I’m Amecia, other known as “Keke”
the founder of EmpresslyGlam, and this brand is not just a business to me. It’s a calling. It’s a reminder that even from humble beginnings, God can turn anything into beauty.

I grew up in Kingston, Jamaica, in a neighborhood where we didn’t have much. I couldn’t even afford a doll. But I remember going next door to watch my neighbor, Pempem, braid hair in her yard. And I was mesmerized. So I got creative, I’d grab an empty Pepsi bottle, collect the leftover braiding hair off the ground, and twist it into that bottle cap. That was my doll. That was my training ground. That was the start of everything.

Pempem became like a big sister, teaching me how to braid step by step. After school, I’d be right there, helping her finish her style. And from that young age, I fell in love with the joy on a woman’s face when her hair was done. That glow, that smile, that sense of power like she could take on the world again. That’s the feeling I built EmpresslyGlam on.
